Mutual funds that secretly hold the same stocks
Two funds with different names can own largely the same portfolio. Below are popular Indian fund pairs ranked by overlap — the share of their portfolios invested in the same stocks, computed from each fund’s latest disclosure. When you hold a high-overlap pair, you’re paying two expense ratios for what is largely one portfolio.
| # | Fund pair | Overlap | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | HDFC Flexi Cap Fund vs Nippon India Flexi Cap Fund notable overlap | 37.5% | shared stocks |
| 2 | HDFC Flexi Cap Fund vs Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund notable overlap | 32.2% | shared stocks |
| 3 | Nippon India Flexi Cap Fund vs Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund some overlap | 24.1% | shared stocks |
| 4 | DSP Regular Savings Fund vs NIPPON INDIA CONSERVATIVE HYBRID FUND some overlap | 3.1% | shared stocks |
Overlap is the sum of the minimum weight each shared stock has in the two portfolios (100% = identical holdings). Rankings describe published data — not a recommendation to buy, sell or switch anything.
